Vendor risk

A clearer view
of vendor risk.

Keep the context for each vendor close to the review: what service they provide, what data they handle, who owns the relationship and when to look again.

One useful record

Put the details reviewers need in one place.

Vendor reviews work best when they start with context. Keep the service description and data types visible alongside a risk level, an owner and the next review date.

01

Describe the service

Record how the vendor supports your service and where it fits in your operations.

02

Note the data involved

Document the types of information the vendor may access or process.

03

Set an accountable review

Assign an owner, choose a risk level and set a date to review the record again.

A repeatable review

Make the next review easier to pick up.

A consistent vendor review can ask the same practical questions every time: what changed, what data is involved, what assurance is available and what follow-up is needed? Keep the answer with the vendor record.

01

Check service changes

Revisit data access and business use when a vendor's scope changes.

02

Record the follow-up

Give review work an owner and date so open questions have a next step.

Current product scope

Vendor reviews today; broader risk automation is not live.

Auditstead provides a vendor register with risk and review fields. It does not currently provide a full enterprise risk register, continuous monitoring, automated vendor questionnaire analysis or AI-generated risk scores.

01

Keep the assessment human-led

Use your review criteria and judgment to assess the vendor and decide on treatment.

02

Connect the record to your program

Use vendor reviews alongside your control, policy and access-review work.

Good questions

A few things to know.

Clear answers make it easier to decide what belongs in your process.

Does Auditstead automatically monitor vendor security?

No. Vendor records and review dates are maintained by your team; external monitoring and change alerts are not currently available.

Can we score a vendor's risk?

The register supports a low, medium or high risk field. The assessment and rationale are your organization's responsibility.

Does the vendor register replace our risk assessment process?

No. It provides a place to organize vendor context and review cadence. Your organization defines its criteria, decisions, approvals and response to risk.
